Course: Appointed Person
Who is the course suitable for?
The Appointed Person Course is ideal for those businesses with low to medium Health and Safety risk. Appointed persons can carry out the duties of a First Aider with this training. Certification lasts for two years, however the HSE recommend that a CPR/refresher course is carried out every 12 months.
The Health and Safety Regulations (First Aid) 1981 and approved code of practice obligates employers to ensure that their workforce have adequate First Aid provision while at work.
Participants will be able to update and refresh existing knowledge and will learn easy, straight forward and common sense ways of dealing with any given situation.

- Care of the unconscious casualty
- Choking
- Bleeding
- Shock
- Broken Bones
- Burns
Course Assessment:
The Appointed Person Courses teach basic life support, for adults, children and babies and meet the current UK Resuscitation Council Guidelines. Participants will receive the Appointed Person Certificate.
When will participants have to attend?
This course is one day duration and can be carried out at the clients' premises or an external venue by prior arrangement.
What will participants do on the course?
Health and Safety theory and practical exercises where appropriate. The course includes an interactive presentation, course book and certification.
What will the participants gain from this course?
Participants will be able to manage existing pro-active and re-active health and safety strategies. The course has been designed to provide managers with an understanding of the integration of Health and Safety with other work activities.
